About Us:
Geopolymer International (GPI) and its sister company, Sustainable Construction Solutions (SCS), are at the forefront of transforming the construction industry through advanced 3D construction printing systems and geopolymer materials. Our goal is to reduce the carbon footprint of construction while building affordable, durable, and sustainable structures that benefit both communities and the planet.

About the Internship:
This flexible, remote internship is a great opportunity for motivated college students to gain hands-on experience in climate tech and sustainable construction. You’ll have the chance to work across multiple areas, including management, operations, HR, finance, marketing, and logistics. No prior experience in construction is necessary; we are looking for proactive, detail-oriented individuals eager to learn and contribute.

Sample Responsibilities:

  • Support marketing and design tasks by generating creative ideas and helping execute marketing strategies.
  • Attend weekly team meetings and relevant events, and assist with note-taking and task follow-up.
  • Help with fundraising initiatives, including grant writing, donor outreach, and communication efforts.
  • Assist team members with project coordination, logistics, and general administrative tasks.

Qualifications:

  • Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s degree program in business administration, marketing, environmental studies, public policy, engineering, communications, or an adjacent field.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, social media, and multitasking skills.
  • Proficiency with software and social media such as Google Suite, Canva, Facebook, LinkedIn, Wordpress, MailChimp, and CRMs.
  • A passion for sustainability and a desire to contribute to innovative climate solutions.

About the Position

This position offers a hands-on opportunity to contribute to the development and testing of cutting-edge geopolymer materials. As part of our laboratory team, you’ll play a critical role in advancing sustainable construction technologies by developing, testing, and optimizing geopolymer formulations for 3D construction printing and other real-world applications.

Essential Skills

  • Ability to analyze and interpret data.
  • Attention to detail with the ability to follow exact protocols.
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Reliable, punctual, proactive, and responsive.

Desirable Skills

  • Proficiency in data analysis tools (e.g., Excel, MATLAB, or similar).
  • Experience with concrete mixing, application, and testing.
  • Familiarity with laboratory procedures, equipment, and safety practices.

Qualifications

  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s program in materials science, chemistry, civil engineering, environmental engineering, or a related field.

Key Responsibilities

  • Materials Development: Assist with laboratory experiments to develop and refine geopolymer materials.
  • Testing and Analysis: Help perform routine and specialized tests on raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products. Help analyze test data and prepare detailed reports on findings.
  • Formulation Innovation: Assist in the development of new formulations and materials tailored to meet specific project requirements.
  • Operations: Support the research team with scheduling, communications, logistics, materials, and supplies.
  • Information Management: Ensure thorough data gathering, filing, recording, and documentation.
  • Safety and Compliance: Ensure adherence to all safety and regulatory requirements within the laboratory environment.
  • Maintenance: Help keep laboratory equipment in clean and working condition.
